Entry into the CBC book giveaway contest
One of our favourite seaside walks is the off-leash dog area in Barnet Marine Park in north Burnaby.
We are able to walk from our home in west Port Moody 1 km. down, down, down the Trans-Canada Trail on Burnaby Mountain; and then west for about 2 km. on the Cougar Creek/Barnet Trails; and then across the CP Rail mainline on a pedestrian overpass into Barnet Marine Park.
The off-leash dog area of Barnet Marine Park occupies about 2 km of the western portion of the park along the tidal shoreline. There are panoramic views of Burrard Inlet with its ocean-going vessels, lower Indian Arm with its yachts and kayakers, and the luxuriantly forested slopes of Belcarra and the North Shore Mountains (see attached digital photo). Our dog, Roxy, likes to fetch sticks and balls from the Inlet; and explore the many unfamiliar seaside scents.
